First gig of RATM

Just found from youtube their first gig!

Rage Against The Machine - First Public Performance (Full Concert) - YouTube

"I can only imagine what was going through the heads of the people just walking by and not looking back at the band. "Hmmm, my choices - go to my deli because I'm really hungry, OR - watch a group whose iconoclastic mark on not only subversive music but the entirety of heavy metal and its many schisms will soon obliterate every ounce of competition and leave a trail of originality not seen since The Sex Pistols. No no no, a cold turkey sandwich sounds pretty damn good right now. Yeah." - from comments

The best part is all the people walking by who have no idea that they are looking at future stars. Kind of like this video of Rush performing in a school auditorium to a bunch of bored schoolchildren LOL.

You mean the early Rush? Here:

Rush Working Man Original Drummer John Rutsey 1974 Live! - YouTube

Somewhere out there are still photos of them playing in a church or a basement or something.

The first time I saw Rage was on the 2nd stage of Lollapalooza 1992 in LA, before they had an album out. Sort of a similar deal.
I only checked them out because my friend had gone to high school with the drummer and he told me to go watch them.

The last time I saw them, I was standing in the wings on stage at the base of Mt. Fuji watching them rock 35,000 people.
Intense.
