First Time I've Seen This - Guitar for sale ad

Sign in to disble this ad
From the Ottawa Musician web site:

mark kendrick master builder at fender custom shop built this 1954 stratocaster it is as new with a new tweed custom case it will be sold to a player. collectors and flippers are not in the running on this one.$3500.00 firm cash is good. xxx-xxx-xxxx it is a good one...

I've seen sellers specify "No low ballers" or "No Lookie Lous" but never one that excludes collectors and flippers.

Maybe you must pass an audition before he'll sell it to you...

He must be one of those folks that believe instruments are alive.

What's so strange? I assume it's not a real 54 at that price but a hand built re-issue. He doesn't want people to waste his time unless they really want what he has. I get it.

My guess is that the seller wants someone who will love and play this guitar to buy it, not some scalping vulture who will just immediately turn it around and sell it for a marked-up price.

It says right in the ad that it was built by Mark Kendrick of the Fender Custom Shop.

If someone really wants it, they'll pay what he's asking regardless of their intentions.

Correct! And once it's sold, the seller has no control over what happens next.

I should email him and say "hey...I'm looking to resell this guitar. What do you think I could get for it?" and see what he says.
