It was in my town a couple months ago, and I missed it!!!

I heard even Chris Dowd friggin showed up and they did an acoustic set together. I can't wait til it's available for purchase. Or better yet, I think they may be coming back here in May!

Yay, Christmas come early

They are playing The Globe in Cardiff May 3rd, 20 miles from me, it'll be the first time I've seen them live, and I shall be 'avin' it large' that's for sure

Just a little rough camera test I made recently, one of my favourite Norwood thumb lines, he recorded it in 1988.

Love Fishbone. This should prove to be a nice stroll down memory lane.

A bald, fat Kendall Jones showed up at one of the screenings. I forgot where...was it Seattle?

I don't know why he quit, the whole Norwood having to kidnap him back and then having to pay a load of legal fee's? I wonder if they have that incident in the Documentary? I'd like to know what happened there, 'strange old kettle of fish' that story.

They surely do. I've read a lot about it. I really wanna see it for myself. And once you see them live, you will not regret it. Best event I've ever been to, bar none!

Fishbone was one of the best live bands I've ever seen, though I have no idea how good they are now (didn't Dirty Walter leave too?). That doc could be quite interesting.

I got to witness first hand some Fishbone reality. Fer instance, one night when we played with them, Angelo and his wife(!) dancing to our sound check. An hour later having a screaming, throwing, knock-down fight...which ended with her simmering in hate at the merch table and bad mouthing him to me for several hours.

During the set, he self medicated, was so messed up that he fell over, hit his head and passed out. This was OK with me because he was doing very long free-form theramin solos during EVERY song .

From there, they hauled him off stage and let randoms from the crowd come up and sing his vocals. His crazy wife then was going between hysterical and pissed-off swearing about him...you know "oh God! I hope he's not going to die!!! Eeerg...before I get a chance to kill him".

In the chaos, his trademark clear lucite cane disappeared...and has never resurfaced. Although it might be hanging over someone's fireplace mantle locally.

er...1995 or 1996. Something like that. The mid-nineties are a blur thanks to playing in a very active band, working two mostly full time jobs and drinking a hell of a lot of pint sized double gin and tonics.

Thank-you for relating that bizarre experience. Personally, I've never really been able to find more information on the 'persona's' in the band, maybe the related tale above is part of the reason why, sounds very off the wall indeed. I'm very looking forward to catching them, when I bought Truth and Soul in '88, I loved it, then searched out the earlier stuff, which was hard at the time and usually available only on Japanese import, which were quite a bit more expensive.

Shame about that cane, that would make some nice souvenir, for someone ; )

I still do have a Fishbone oddity. At the time, Angelo was writing and self printing (at Kinkos or another copy place) his own poetry books. I have one from that night that his wife gave to me then demanded that he personalize for me.

Nice pieces, that's a cool insight, I've always liked his lyrics v.much. I found out about the Chris Dowd/Jeff Buckley friendship recently through Jeff's autobiography, that had a couple of interesting little snippets, not too much about anything though, they were quite close friends by the seems.

Dude! I'll roll on that. Riverside is also home to the Skeletones. I've seen both these bands on the same bill many times. Fishbone kind of started to loose me when they started drifting away from ska and more into that heavy thrash kind of sound. Like Burning Skies much of the nineties are a blur to me. Last time I saw them had to have been around 93-94 at The Palladium. Fun pit.
