|  | Registered User Midtown Guitars | | Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: 810, Michigan | | | i appreciate cover songs. regardless if they did it justice or not is for the public to decide. the point of a cover is to take an original song and put your spin on it. by definition FFDP did that. i remember a few years ago fall out boy did a cover of 'roxanne', and later 'beat it'. atreyu did 'you give love a bad name'. a cd series called 'punk goes' is nothing but covers of classic rock, metal, 80s, 90s, even pop. even new found glory released 'from the screen to your stereo' volumes 1 and 2. the point is a cover shouldnt get a bad rep because its not like the original....because its not supposed to be. if it sound exactly like the original then its just a remake not a true cover IMO.

my .02 | I enjoy a lot of covers. But the way they did theirs is to close to the original but not as good , and it isn't original enough to be good. I have heard a lot of bar bands cover that song and do it just as good as they do and some that do it way better. But they are not getting air time or big bucks ether. I think that is what bothers people.

But I agree that 5FDP sucks, and COMPLETELY butchered this song.
EDIT: For another bad cover, check out The Killers' version of Hotel California. They live up to their name...
