WOW, I was just doodling around with some double stops and a flat sixth is such a cool interval. I'm amazed that I hadn't noticed this before.

That's what I was thinking-It's not surprising that you like it, as it's probably the most commonly used interval in music. (4/5 don't count here) It's the foundation of major-keyed harmony.
