Meh

Fleetwood Mac isn't Fleetwood Mac without Peter Green

Would've been better to let that band die completely than turn it into the sappy Pop Juggernaut that it did

I saw a weird "Fleetwood Mac" show on DirectTV. It was Mick Fleetwood, John Mcvie, a couple of older musicians and some young woman that sang the songs. She was dressed casually (jeans/blouse) and looked really out of place. It was billed as FM.

I agree with the OP. Saw their post-Buckingham period Behind The Mask tour and was very clear who the leader- and best musician- was.

Stinsok, was that recent? I'm thinking the band involved Rick Vito on guitar (as usual) and maybe guitarist Eric Gilliom with Raiatea Helm on lead vocals?... they also perform as a corporate event act in Hawaii as "Mick Fleetwood's Island Rumours Band".

True, the rest of the band can't quite be considered as an eye candy.

But then again, quite a few REAL rock bands tend to be that way. I'm in a real rock band... .

I'm with the OP. Also, the Eagles aren't the Eagles without Don Felder.

+ 100.

I'll go even further and say Peter Green WAS Fleetwood Mac. Having said that, I have always liked Christine Mc Vie.

Bob Welch – electric guitar, acoustic guitar, lead and backing vocals
Bob Weston – electric guitar, slide guitar, acoustic guitar, backing vocals
Christine McVie – keyboards, lead and backing vocals
John McVie – bass guitar
Mick Fleetwood – drums, percussion

This was when I discovered FM, in 1973 "Mystery to Me". I loved/love that album. For me that has always been the definitive Fleetwood/Mac. Backtracking into the Peter Green material, and fastforwarding into the Buckingham/Nicks material, as never been as captivating as my first encounter. Christie's voice was in fine form an "Mystery To Me".

No, The Eagles aren't The Eagles without BERNIE LEADON!!!

I look on Fleetwood Mac the way I look at Taco Bell. It ain't real, but it's got some good points. For me, real FM is "Bare Trees" era. But Buckingham/Nicks (as long as it's got Lindsey Buckingham actively engaged) era FM is great pop music carefully crafted. It just ain't the same as the real FM.

Bottom line is that FM is Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. And they do seem to be able to latch on to some really good songwriters over the decades- Green, Welch, Kirwan, Mrs. McVie nee Perfect, and Buckingham.

John

Love Christine McVie. Great songwriter, impeccable, tasteful musical sensibility, and a subtle contributor to whatever ensemble she finds herself in. Take her out, and things just don't hang together nearly as well. That's why I'll be skipping the current reunion tour.

She also had the exemplary good sense to dump Dennis Wilson.
