I'm going to be going to Ft. Lauderdale for spring break, and was wondering where all the great music stores are? I could use some suggestions of places with great basses to check out while i'm down there

There's a massive Sam Ash in Clearwater, if you're willing to go out of the way a little bit.

(also, I'm not a Florida bassist, but......)

Sam Ash in Margate, Fl. mostly Fenders and Fender knock offs though.
G.C. is in Hallendale, but I recommend against it.
There are quite a few music stores around, they carry everything from Ibanez to Rics.
Small selection, and large prices though.
This is far from a mecca for instrument shopping, as a destination vacation resort.

The bass section/selection at that store is not massive though.

sounds like the GC in kendall. They pretty much have 1 6foot wide wall of ibanezes, a 4 foot wall of shecters, and a 3 foot wall of EBMMs, and lets not forget a 4 used basses which consist of 2 broken dimebag basses and 2 random squire or SX200 basses. and the sam ash in dolphin mall keeps everything chained to the wall and no one works in that department so forget trying out equipment.

is it awesome? lol
EDIT: on their website they have 2 basses

Even if it's just small places with cool basses, that'd be great

Well, when we went I was still a keyboard player, so I was much more impressed.

MAE in Ft. Lauderdale does indeed have a decent selection of basses and amps.

I also like Dixie Guitars in Ft. Lauderdale. Older stuff and its more hit or miss.

IMO - Bass Central just outside of Orlando is the best store in the State of Florida. Many people make the 3 hour drive north from South Florida to purchase from them.

YUP bass central is good, but in Orlando. MAE is O.K. not much variety. Dixie is a crap shoot, you may get lucky. I might add, there are a LOT of pawn shops down here, you just might find that hidden treasure you read about on here, I ain't yet, but I keep looking.

I'm not looking to buy anything, just try out some cool stuff and maybe see what my taste is.
