A Fodera in my future.

So last night was our company's annual holiday party, and the last one I would MC (I have 7 days left to work). During the presentations, the new boss brought out a bass case, and said they were giving it to me as a retirement present. So I opened the case, and there it was, an Epiphone EB-0 copy. Then one of my partners stepped up and said, "Actually, that's my daughter's bass. We want you to have one custom-built by the builder of your choice." They had a picture of one of those $50,000 Ritters with the diamond knobs and gold fretboard scrolling (they had no idea), and I said, "Well, I'm going to be saving you guys a lot of money by getting a Fodera." So I'm looking for one already built, but I may order one to my specs.

Neat. I think the only way I'd get a Fodera would be if someone else were picking up the tab as well.

Thanks, everyone. Jason at Fodera e-mailed me, so I'm going to look into having one built. I'm open to suggestions on body wood and top. It'll be a double-cut. I'm looking for a fairly modern but somewhat warm and full sound.

Congrats man! I guess retirement will give you more time to enjoy your playing and now a new Fodera. Doesn't get much better than that.

That is just great news man! I wish every company was that good to its employees. Regardless, the story brought a smile to my face.

Perhaps you could get Fodera to make you a copy of an Epiphone EB-0 copy?

Working on it. What I know so far:

Emporer Deluxe 5
Duncan dual coil pickups
5A top, undetermined
Matching wood pickup covers
Matching headstock
Ebony fretboard, side dots only
Maple neck
Walnut body, maybe mahogany
Company logo inlaid at 12th fret
And the highly desirable gold hardware.
