As u might know from my other thread i have had some serious pain in my arms for about 2-3months and i thought it was carpal tunnel syndrom..

I went to a doctor today and she told it was an inflammatory in my muscles, what a relief!!

She prescribed anti-inflammatory and told me that it will go away after 2weeks of treatment, this is for me, GREAT NEWS, i thought i wasn't going to play bass again for like a year!

In 2weeks i'll be back practicing several hours today, can't wait!!!

I had similar problems about 6 months back - didn't go to the doctor though... was always "going to go next week". Anyway, it's all ok now... I get aching when I play some fast stuff, but I just think that's just my muscles getting used to it (my band are getting faster and more complex all the time - I've started to play with my third finger too).

I do get twinges in my fingers every now and again though... but then again, I work on a PC all day as a programmer so my fingers are constantly on the go.

Anyway, glad it's not CTS! I dread the day that I get that

Did you learn stretches? Playing bass may be causing your problem, maybe you need to re-evaluate the way you approach the instrument?

Yes, I almost always stretch before playing... albeit I sometimes forget!

I don't actually know any stretching exercises... I just push my hands together and try to stretch all of my fingers and muscles in my arms.

I always stretch, i think i OVERSTRETCHED alot though..

My approach on the bass is really really relaxed, both right and left hand technique.
