Fort Wayne, IN???

What can you all tell me about Ft. Wayne? Music scene? Genres? General level of musicianship? Family life? Stuff?

Potentially interesting job opportunity in Ft. Wayne, but I work to play, so the playing better be good. Real good. I've found some absolutely world-class pockets in Albuquerque, but I *could* be persuaded to go elsewhere if there are plenty of opportunities to play jazz and other intelligent forms of music.

Thanks.

I've been gigging in Ft. Wayne for over a year so I might have some input. As far as music scene, it isn't huge but it's not bad. I play country music and there are quite a few hot spots in the Ft. Wayne area for it. The rock scene is a bit smaller, there are a few good spots to play; 4D's, Columbia Street West, The Brass rail, The Berlin and such. Piere's is a great venue for smaller national acts, it's a good place to see a show and perform.

Other than that the hotrod scene is great, I belong to a vw club in Fort Wayne and hang out with a bunch of late model Camaro guys as well. There are great restaurants and dives(my personal favorite). Fort Wayne isn't a bad place to be, so long as you have an interest in certain things.

Any other points of interest?

Hey Derock,
Does Sweetwater have a showroom in Ft. Wayne? I've been to The Fort quite a few times... don't remember much after leaving Pierres' and a couple places Downtown... happens ever time.

It's very very bad. I've met a few ft wayne bands, they never have anything positive to say. These are all original bands though. I live about an hour and a half south and I've never found a good reason to step foot in ft Wayne.

I grew up in Ft. Wayne. You will find nothing but people laid off from their jobs, and drowning sorrows in sh*t beer while demanding "Freebird". We used to call it "Ft. Fun" as a joke. I hate to bad mouth the area (my folks still live there, and we still go back for the holidays), but leaving (for a career) was the best decision I've ever made. Both of my brothers left as well. It's a sad place.
