Frank Zappa! - new appreciation

Sign in to disble this ad
so zappa is amazing...im sure this is not news at all to anyone with half a brain in here. ive known for a while that his music rocks and that he is regarded by many as being a genius composer, however its sinking in more and more everyday how INCREDIBLE most of his music actually is.

Its my sophomore year at college and i didnt do any ensemble playing last year outside of jamming for fun. this year, i have dived headfirst into a Zappa ensemble run by the school (check it out)

ANYWAY.
its a lot of work. 3-4 intense songs a week, there are charts handed out, but they never include the bass, so they are of minimal help.
anyway, i just got done working through the three songs i postponed learning till the day before rehersal and i am wiped. ive only been playing this music for a few weeks now (just over a month, actually), and i can already feel myself progressing at a faster rate.

not really much of a point to this post i guess, just wanted to share my feelings of awe towards Frank's work and also my feelings of awe towards what a little hard work will accomplish.

Welcome to the club! He was indeed a genius. A twisted puppy, but a genius nonetheless.
