freakin laser beams
So I have never really worried about my live performance. Yea I have plenty of energy, but I never saw a big reason for lights and all of that. I went to a show on friday night and the band had 4 or so of those mini lasers. They were waaaay cool. My guitarist looked at me and both agreed we should try and get some of those.
I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff. Does anyone use these? They were pretty small, and they had them mounted to drum stands. Probably the size 3 packs of cards. They were displaying mostly green and red lights, but some blue. They did some simple patterns. If they are like $500 forget about it, but if they are reasonable id like to pick some up. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?
While those cheapo LED lasers do look cool, I find them very annoying on stage.
Lasers are also subjected to a lot of restrictions, and for a very good reason.
I for one won't allow one pointing at the stage when I'm playing, a mere reflection from a glossy surface blinds me for a while.
Even though the power is usually not high enough to do any permanent damage, that fact doesn't diminish the annoyance one damn bit.
That said, the price range is from ~$50 upwards for the single color ones, and the selection is simply unbelievable.
Any place that sells stage lighting should have quite a few to try out.
I think they are cool..and annoying when they get ya right in the eyes. :/
just played a show friday and while I was tuning up (they had a couple small lasers in the back that were runnin b4 we started) I'll be damned if that son of a Biznitch didnt keep hittin me right in the friggin eye every 4 seconds. so that was annoying while I was facing my rig..
but once we started..yes , it was cool...especially with "fog/smoke" whatev u wanna call it.
then again I use a shuttle 6, so I'm kinda used to being blinded by the light. ;)
