(free) Guitar Interactive Mag gets Bass Section!

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I have posted on TalkBass, but I wanted to share my news with my Bass Playing family! Cringeworthy self-promotion but here goes!

I've joined Guitar Interactive Magazine (www.iguitarmag.com) to front the new bass section called 'The Bassment'!!! It's a fully featured part of the mag and not just an after thought. it's an online magazine with a worldwide readership.

Issue 5, full of video interviews, reviews and columns has been out a little while already and although you can still read all the previous issues for free too, issue 6 has just been released too!

I'm pleased to say that I've already interviewed Dave Ellefson from Megadeth and Frank Bello from Anthrax! Yay!!! I've gotten my dirty mits all over the TC RH750 and MarkBass TTE500 Randy Jackson head and matching cab too along with a whole host of other cool gear!

Anyway, the point is that this is pretty much heaven for me! I've been playing bass, guitar a bit of drums and a bit of keys for well over 20 years now. I think I'm a self confessed gear geek! I get to play with gear and then talk about it and to share with you guys! (ok, so I have to work flippin hard too!)

I hope that I can bring something for everyone to the magazine- I realise I won't please everyone all the time, but I'll do my best to make the reviews clear and succinct. Some have already commented to say they approve of the fact that I don't shred all over the reviews.. That's not the way to demo a bass or amp IMO too

Cool, ok, so I'll leave you too it and will head back later as I welcome any comments!

I'm on the usual Facebook, twitter etc too!

Very nice graphics the way the ads piece together.
Having the video clips with the articles is good too.

I own this pedal and I think the Fishman Fission review was a little confusing though.

First, some more examples of well known rock songs (this pedal's true target market) would have shown this pedal's true strength. The licks were mostly fast RnB type runs that just demonstrated good tracking (not a bad thing). Showing something like how this pedal with the bass + power chords would fill up the guitar solo outro to say "Comfortably Numb" in a power trio setting would have been more to the point of this pedal.

Second, you make it sound like the 4th below and 5th above settings are in relation to the bass note (although you don't say this, it's the vagueness that's the problem). They are not. They are in relation to the octave that is always present when the pedal is engaged.

Also, to be clear, when you engage both buttons (at the same time) for the upper voicing, you're getting the octave + a 5th above that + the second octave. Same as a guitarist playing a root/5th/octave power chord to your bass note. Engage both buttons separately and you get the equivalent of a power chord of a 4th below/root/5th above (a muddy chord that I don't think most Rock guitarists tend to use).

Excellent setup as far as the online mag is concerned though.
