Just my opinion,

If your playing rock and roll there is no need for a fretless bass.

So I ended up buying a M audio axiom 49 keyboard. About $200.

Thanks to all for your help.

I use Ableton Lite mostly, as well as Reason and MainStage.

Cheers,

I agree with Mike
But if you do decide to get a bass here is my two cents: I played my fretless custom Fender for years in every type of music (funk, rock, blues, and jazz), then decided I would get a Sadowsky 5string. I couldn't be happier having them both. I ended up setting my fretless up with some flat wounds, I was using medium nickel wound D'Addario's, and I have that really bwamy fretless sound now. I am happy with it.
I talk more about both of them (Flat wounds and the Sadowsky) on my blog
Hope that helps, P

Several decades experience: fretless is the cello, fretted is the kick-ass. Me, I prefer the cello, but I love me some kick ass. My fretted is a 2010 P. Sweet.
