My wife had just put on some R Carlos Nakai when I came in to practice, so I decided to play along. His music is very meditative, and playing with it put me in a nice space.
Amazing how expressive he can be with only 6 notes of a minor pentatonic scale (5 plus the octave - and he plays within a one octave range).
Rreally spacious and open, it was a nice energy and dynamic to play with.

I've just playing the NAF, and it is amazing at what you can do with six notes. Phrasing and rhythm become much more important.

I'm hoping this simplicity will carry over to my bass/guitar playing.

Flute music of the First People is a beautiful sound man. The flutes themselves are works of art. I own two of them myself --one made of sassafras and another of white cedar-- though I haven't nearly talent enough to put them to their best.

Playing a toothless with that sound??? It's got to be cool. Keep doing it man!
