"Footprints" in a funky 4/4 is given.
For reference, you can check out a version on Andy Summers' The Last Dance Of Mr. X(w/ Tony Levin on bass, IIRC) or maybe Liquid Soul's version(debut alabum).

We used to do "All Blues" in a more uptempo, funky thing in 13...basically bar of 6 + a bar of 7(or was it a bar of 7 + a bar of 6).

There was a time when I had a rhythm arrangement for "Giant Steps" in a funky Hip-Hop...slowed way down with every other chord 'removed'. The other bums in that band didn't buy into it...

There also this Wayne Shorter tune that I've been wanting to do as a funky 5/4 Latin vibe...is it "Witch Hunt"? Damn, will have to check on that later.

yeah i had forgotten about footprints, great bass groove but none of the other guys seem very keen to do it.
Hmm might see if i can find that version of Liquid Soul.
Another is So What-Miles Davis an absolutely stone cold cool jazz groove.St Thomas-Sonny Rollins with its carribean/latin beat is good too.
Giant Steps as hip hop?too much! sounds cool though.
All Blues just lends itself to a bit of funkified.

I like 'Footprints' in an Afro-Cuban 6/8 feel - same with 'Afro Blue'. We do 'The Chicken' in 15 (bar of 4/4, bar of 7/8), and I dig that. We also do 'Blue Bossa' as a drum and bass thing - and I pedal a Cm riff under the first half of the form - up to the modulation to Eb. Pretty cool, I guess.

You can do anything funky, tho. It's all about attitude and approach.
