DISCLAIMER: I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THIS COMPANY!

A friend sent me this pretty cool article:
http://www.inc.com/magazine/20091001...ewsletter_News

About this company:
http://www.guitaraffair.com/index.php

Basically you sign up with this company, and provided you pass the backround and credit check, you can rent high end guitars (no basses yet from what I can see) for specific periods of time.

Pretty cool idea if you ask me. There's definatly a few hard/impossible to find basses out there that I wouldn't mind renting for a bit to see if I like them or not.

This would be a very GAS inducing business IMO

Discuss...

Well, that's going to eliminate most musicians!

That would be awesome. Try before you buy, and/or get your hands on specific basses for specific gigs or recording sessions, without investing in a whole stable of axes.

Kinda have a feeling the company's not gonna make it, though. If the model worked, you'd think someone would have been doing it by now.

I'm sure those vintage guitars will become even more vintage pretty quickly!

Well it does seem that this kind of business will cater more towards the higher end guitars which in turn a higher end client.

It would be great for all those session guys, or for the hobbyist/collectors out there.

Well with UPS, FedEx etc. raising their rates at the drop of a hat... shipping these axes back and forth is going to get pretty spendy.

They stole my idea!!

Ah well, I guess they can keep a portion of the profits. As long as they remember my royalties!!

Hmmm..... $125 a week. For a $2,500 guitar. Maybe (like Netflix) I can pay them the $12.99 a month and they just send me Epiphones and Squiers??
