G&L gig bag question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I have a question for the owners of this gig bag.

How dense is the foam? E.g. can you feel the strings below the foam if you press your hand to the front surface against the fretboard, when the bass is inside?
Or, can it stand by itself vertically against the wall and don't collapse in half?
I am now on the gig bag quest and this one looks very nice, but I want to be sure the foam is that sort of hard and dense type, not the regular softie.

I recently bought an Attitude gig bag with 20mm (1 inch) padding, but although it is thick in size, it is also soft and you can feel the individual strings through the front side with your hand.. that's not enough protection for me.
The same was the Warwick Rockbag Deluxe - one inch thick padding, but very soft.. When you lean it against the wall, it collapses to half.. These have the soft foam.

My current gig bag is from Line6 Variax (I got it with the other bass, never had a Variax) and it's near perfect.
The only flaw is that it has only one strap on the back and I need two straps - backpack style, to comfortably carry the bass and the other items in my hands.

I love the lightweight (like 1,5 kg/3.5 lbs), hard and dense foam, and sufficient storage of the Line6 bag.
I know there are some good options around, but these are either not that lightweight (iGig, Protego) or don't have enough storage (Mono).

The G&L looks perfect. If this one has the dense foam, I will get it, no matter what.

These are definitely stiffer than Warwick bags. Mine will stand up by itself. Not as roomy or plush as Warwick bags though.

That's great, thanks for the info.
For me it means ordering from US to EU.. I could not find this bag anywhere in Europe

If anyone has the photo of the inside of this bag, I would really apprecciate it.

It looks like nobody carries this new GL gigbag in stock in EU so I ordered it from US.
That one is IMO worth it
