G.A.S. attack!

I guess this one belongs in "miscellaneous"..? Here goes, anyway.

I've only been using the TalkBass forums for a few weeks, and with it being predominantly populated by American users, and wot wiv me being a Brit, I'm still coming across unfamiliar terminology here and there.

One term that really intrigues me is G.A.S., as in "I'm really GASsing for a Sadowsky/SVT/Fender" etc. I know what it means, of course - the person is hankering after said object of desire - but I can't work out how the letters GAS have come to be used in this way. Is it an acronym for something, and if so, what does it stand for?
