Anyone here a fan of the band Galactic?
I've been hearing good things about them for a while, but never heard any of their stuff.
A friend of mine just sent me a recording of them at Bonnaroo playing a song with Les Claypool & Skerik. I like the sound of the band, but it's hard to judge how the rest of their stuff is based on this 1 track. (Claypool gave one of his standard non-sense shred solos too BTW).
Anyone give me some more info on them?

I saw a handful of shows a few years ago...awesome party band. Sort of a modern take on the Meters. Mercurio won't blow you away with his bass playing but he is very solid and groovy. Stanton Moore is one of my favorite drummers - anything he plays on is great.

You need this album:

That's the impression I got from the bassist. I've only heard 3 of their songs so far, but I was loving the solid grooves he lays down for them, his stuff fits perfectly in the music. Not too much, not too little.
And thanks for the link! I'm gonna check that one out.
