Garment leather strap

I have read that garment leather is a good cross between regular leather and suede i.e. not too slippy, not too grippy! Does anyone have experience of garment leather straps to either confirm or deny this?

I am looking for some support with my slightly neck heavy Gretsch G2202 - so far I have bought a regular suede strap after a recommendation from my local music shop. However I found it far too grippy for my liking - ideally I am after a bit of grip but not enough that I can't manoeuvre it while playing.

Any advice?
