GAS-free decree, for 6 months, who is with me?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,
My wife challenged me, saying she doesn't think I can do it. 6 months, no bass-related purchases. Period. If something needs repairing, different story, but otherwise, no buy, no sell, no trade.

We have baby number 3 on the way so this is a good time to try to really control the spending, and my entire rig has been overhauled in the last year, and both basses are in great shape at the moment. And I play flats, so I won't need strings in that time period.

I think I can do it, now that I made that one last upgrade, decided that I don't really need that Rob Allen Mouse, nor do I need to mod anything else now that I installed my Fralins in the P-bass.

Gulp, here goes. 6 months from yesterday.

If replacement strings, cables & other necessary-for-the-gig purchases don't count, I'll give it a shot. I expect to last a good 3 days.

+1

I was able to quit smoking cold turkey, but there's no way in hell I could do that.

You're a braver soul than I!

Thanks guys! Your support will be really important during this trying time. I can see it now. End of May, I am in the delivery room with the new baby and all I can think about is that compression pedal I can buy in the fall.

:-)

Keep those cards and letters coming!

you should go out today, and go on a buying binge, and stock up on pickups, electronics, etc. and then open something every now and then throughout the 6 month period, and then it will be like you never had to stop buying stuff. and then you could start the 6 month thing tomorrow.

I'll give it a go as well. One must have a support group during these trying times.

I'm going also clarify to myself that an upgrade 'disguised' as repair is also not kosher..
