I heard that King Crimson was adding a second drummer to their lineup months back, but never heard the official announcement as to who it would be. It is listed in Robert Fripp's diary.

I can't wait to see them performing again.

Cool stuff. I like Gavin's playing with Porcupine Tree. I get the feeling he should fit right in with KC.

I have no idea who this guy is, haven't for whatever reason taken the Porcupine plunge, but I've enjoyed so much KC over the years that I'm just excited that they are gearing up again (and hopefully they'll be interesting, as usual).

What recommendations do you all have for a PT novice to get acquainted?

In Absentia was my introduction to Porcupine Tree, I think it's a really solid album. I love the drumming, he doesn't sound overly proggy though, just bad ass grooves with a decent amount of flash, but maybe he's holding back.

Gavin is definately holding back on pretty much every recording - the guy is incredibly tasteful and sensitive to the music..... His most technical drumming is probably found on the new EP Nil Recurring as well as Fear Of A Blank Planet for Porcupine Tree, although his new collaborative cd Drop has TONS of crazy drumming too. I am BEYOND stoked about his joining KC, he's my favorite drummer.
