| GC account sign-up is a joke

I recently decided to try and sign up for a GC accout to take advantage of the 12 month, 0% financing on fender gear. Their application process is a freaking joke. I filled out the information section, no problem and then it starts to ask me generalized questions about my history. Apparently they delve into public records and just pull random facts out and make you answer multiple choice questions about them. The 3 questions I received were
1) What is your height listed on your drivers license
2) It gave so address that was supposed to have meaning to me and I had to pick the county it was in.
3) And finally, and this is the best one, it gave my mother's name and asked in what city she owns property and these were cities all over the US. I know where she lives and it wasn't even listed. Do they expect me to have my mom and step-dads portfolio sitting out in front of me just to get a stupid credit card to some music store. Heck, my step-dad runs a nationwide company that does demolitions removal, he could own property anywhere.
This is the first time I've applied for any credit since the credit "crunch" so I don't know if this is in response to that. My wife and I just bought a brand new car 5 months ago and had no problems.
Sorry for the long post, but this was very frustrating and kind of pissed me off. I tried applying both online and then called them to try and get it done and neither worked because of these strange, random questionnares. Anyone else ran into this type of situation with the same institution or at other lenders?
