GC labor day sale find

So I just got back from the sale, I got there early cus I was thinking since the postcard said line starts at 7 that there would be a line. Well ya maybe about 5 minutes before 8am there were 4 of us. Anyways the LIST was so so, they had good deals if you liked what they had. They had Warwick Rockbasses for 99 dollars, Fender P-bass highway one for $499. Unfortunately I really just wanted a 5 string and they didn't have anything that I wanted. The deal of the day was on strings, they had ernie ball slinkies for 5 dollars. I ended up buying a set of DR marcus millers (really wanted loriders but they weren't on sale) for $7.50. Oh well maybe next year they will have a sale on a 5 string bongo or stingray

Mine had the $99 Rockbasses and the $499 HW1 P as well. I was tempted to buy a Rockbass and resell it on ebay, but meh. The deals on strings were killer though. 5-string sets of DRs for $10! I now have enough to last for years

I might have bought a rockbass if they had the 5 string ones and the only ones they had were the 4 string all black ones, some kid came in and took the 4 string honeyburst one.

Mine was meh. No Rockbasses left at 8:40 (only had two) and no Hwy 1's or MIM's on sale that I saw. A used MTD535 for around $1100 but it wasn't what I wanted. Nothing good other than that.

Meh. The Raleigh store is REALLY small and kind of crappy as far as basses go, the Greensboro store is much better but I knew I'd never make it in time for any good deals.

Also, none of our DR strings were on sale stupid cheap like what you guys are seeing.

Natick Mass GC

A big plus 1 on the strings - all 4-string
DR Marcus Miller - $7.50
DR Lo-Rider - $7.50
DR Black Beauties - $10.50

It seemed like all the bass (and g**tar) strings were on crazy sale.

I think they only had one Rockbass at $99 but it was gone by the time I got there at 8:15

They did have the Hwy 1s but I think for more like 550 or so.

I saw a Cirrus 4 BXP mislabelled as a Grind for $379 which I tried out - nice bass for the price.

One guy walked out with the 3 Dean basses that they had for $50 that were going to his cousin's kids who were pre-teens and teens.

I'm not sure if this is a good price but they did have a used Peavey Foundation with Super Ferrite pickups for $199

I had the chance to grab our store's only Rockbass but passed and grabbed the Fretless Schecter 4 string Deluxe for $230. Not too shabby beings it was the one that I've had my eye on for $499.

Thanks again TB!

I totally forgot about the Labor Day sale.

I showed up at 10:30 and STILL scored a $99 Rockbass. Straight of the stand it played perfect with no buzz.

Also picked up some various strings to try out at $6/set. They had Rotosound for $10 as well. I got some GHS, I am a D'Addario man personally, but figured I would give the GHS a shot. The only Dads they had were .10 and I like the .105s. They had some Dean Markley Skullbusters for $6, so I grabbed a set. I don't expect much, but figured for a quick replacement, besides they endorsed by Jerry ONly of the Misfits .

Thanks for helping me find a good buy! I am totally stoked about the Rockbass. Would I originally have bought one for $549? Nope, but at $99... that changed to a resounding YES! The funny thing is that now that I got it home and hooked it up, this thing sounds SWEET! I haven't even changed the strings yet and it rocks. So do I think it is worth $549 now... yup.

Ox.

I showed up just as the doors opened to a round of applause from the salespeople - felt a little geeky. Snagged a "flametop" OLP Stingray for $79.00 and a set of D'Addario flats for $9.90. No contest with real Stingray quality, but delivers 85% of the sound in convienient beater form.

I love that description! It is hard to pass up a $79 axe that has a straight neck and decent tone...

Yeah they had a lot of amps on sale at mine, mostly gk and ampeg. This marcus miller string set sounds great though really beefy lows and insanely bright.
