Wink GC Memoral Day Sale - Anybody Score?

Sign in to disble this ad
Went to the GC by my house. Was the lamest sale yet. Only bass "blowouts" were two Lagunas and one Epiphone. Although that had all new Fender basses @ 20% off and new MM basses @ 15% off.

Only other good deal I spotted was a brand new (still sealed in box) Ampeg SVT6 Pro for $750, but I was in no need of an amp.

So while walking around I spotted a used Geddy hanging on the wall for $599 (regular price, no discount). Picked it up and she had some buckle rash, but was in otherwise good shape. I took a look at the Fender signs that were hanging around the store. The sign read: "20% off all Fender Basses". So I took the Geddy up the the register and said I'll take her and the 20% off. The guy said the sign was intended for only new Fender basses.

I responded that the word "all" on thge signs did not specify new or used and that all means "all". After talking to him and 2 managers for 10+ min, they finally caved in and gave it to me for 20% off. After that, they started printing new signs for inside the store .

So anybody else score anything?

The consensus on these threads for the past couple years seems to have been that the GC "blowout" sales are lame and nowhere near as worthwhile as they used to be.

Whoa, nice bass! The GC here (Mays Landing/Pleasantville, NJ) didn't have much bass stuff going in the sale, although got some songbooks for a reduced price (Bass line books for Rockband and Led Zep 1 & 2) but most of the items on sale seemed to be guitar and drum stuff, not bass.

in the whole store my GC had 1 thing marked down for Memorial Day. 1 thing!! They ran radio ads saying blowout, I asked the counter dude and he said 'uhhh I think we have some close outs, I can check if you have some time". confirming I need to go home and play instead of shopping!

The sale was terrible. Absolutely terrible. There were no "blowouts" on gear. I was expecting to find some basses or guitars being cleared out at great prices, but that was not the case. Their idea of a "deal" was spending $1200 for the LMII and 210 cab and receiving a speaker cable, free.

Thumbs down

Just the same deals repackaged as "blowout".For example-if you buy 2 Boss pedals, you get a free pedal case. This deal has been going on for a while and will until the end of the month. When I asked where are the blowouts-they mentioned the Boss deal.

i got an amp i've been wanting for 50 bucks off, 250 instead of 300, not a bad discount. i'm happy with the price, the service left a little to be desired. oh well, i'm happy with the purchase and the amp rocks. however, my next purchase will be from a dedicated bass retailer.
