The GC in Memphis is probably one of the best.

I know GC is roasted here, but I have had nothing but wonderful experiences in mine. The selection is great (tons of Ernie Ball, Fender, Warwick, Gibson, etc.) and the staff is friendly and doesn't bother you when you're playing. As a matter of fact, last Wednesday I met Cordell "Boogie" Mosson in there and he was very impressed by my playing (we exchanged numbers!!).

So yeah, don't like GC? Shut that stuff up homie. Got cool stories?

I don't know if it's "...one of the best", but I have snagged some great deals there. And you're right about them leaving you alone to try things.

Haha, it`s pretty bad IME. Try the one in Nashville or Knoxville because they are superb. I`ve never asked, but I think the they do a setup on all guitars and basses before they hit the shelves at the one in Knox - all the basses always have nice action, are in tune, and have no cosmetic flaws... whereas most the ones in Memphis are in horrible condition.
