Gear Bag Recommendations?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering what (if anything) you guys use to carry stuff to a gig with. Things such as spare batteries, strings, a small tool kit, a towel, etc. etc. I was thinking maybe a decent size camera bag but I would imagine there is a company that makes something specific for the musician. I am just not aware who that might be.

I'm sure you can find plenty of purpose built gig bags, but there are plenty of other options which might work just as well for less coin. A camera bag would probably work nicely with multiple compartments. I use a re-purposed IBM double sided laptop case, which I find works great. It will even fit most micro bass heads with ease and in a padded compartment to boot. One side is expandable, and because both sides unzip fully, it is easy to load neatly, then find things once loaded. I've also got a laptop backpack which works pretty well, but I like this better for keeping it neat.

I have found a small inexpensive tool kit that is in my gig bag along with a couple of 9 volt and 4pk of AA batteries, spare set of strings and 2 instrument cables and a speaker cable and an AC cable. I used to carry a lot more but everyone i play with is prepared for their own emergencies.
