Along the lines of another topic in another thread, do you have any gear lying around, other than basses that you've purchased but don't use much or not at all? What was the reasoning behind the purchase?

I've got a Digitech Bass Driver that I never use. I bought it because I wanted a brilliant sounding distortion pedal and it is just that.

Although it sees very little use.

Digitech bass synth wah. Thought itd be useful, but then my bands style changed a bit and I dont use it.

Digitech workstation- I jsut thought it would be cool and after a week it was boring
Soundgear SR406 bass- It seemed like a deal when I got it but i jsut never liked it. Within a month or two I was lookin for a new bass.

Id also be willing to sell or trade. lol

I have a couple of pedals laying around. A DOD octave divider and Zoom 506II. An Arion stage tuner too. I'm not a pedal guy. Or a FX guy.

A BBE 262. At one time it was in my rack. Right now it is hooked up to my home stereo and kicks some major A$$. It's much better for programed music.

A reminisce of a PA system. An old Peavey CS800 power amp and a Digitech DSP128 (?) multi-fx

An old GK 800RB that has served me well. I still use it once in a while if I am going to jam and need a light weight set up. The 800RB and my 2X10 sounds killer.

Mesa Boogie Bass 400 (no +) with the 2X15 cab. I gigged with it for little over a year and it proved to be unreliable.

I even still have one cab left over from one of my first amps. An old Acoustic 1X15. An old folded port style (if that the correct term) but the speaker is long gone.

I also have a pretty decent recording set up for my computer but it doesn't get much action.

an Art Tube EQ (semi-parametric) It make a good pre-amp.
This was also in my bass rack at one time when I needed the extra EQ for my Alembic F1X

I also have a Boss Dr Rhythm drum machine and some Pro Sessions drum loops.

You would think with all that stuff I would have something recorded, but I don't.
I go through the same thing every time.
First I come up with a groove or bass line, get a couple of cord changes, try to refine it. Then I think it all sucks and then delete it. What a waste.

Most stuff I've bought had an immediate application but things change over time...I've been gigging over 25 years now.

When I played top 40 I owned a number of stomp box effects, now that I mostly play blues, folk and jazz I never use them. I've sold all but two, a chorus and a 60s Fuzz Face I've owned forever.

I hung on to my old Steinberger L2 "just in case" even though I stopped using it as my main axe about 15 years ago. Then I got in a band last December where the Steinberger was the perfect axe. I had stopped using my SWR Baby Blue for a few years but it's the perfect amp for that gig so I'm really glad I kept it

I have sold off a lot of gear...dumped all but one fretless, dumped all my 5 strings, sold some amps and cabs. I still have more gear than I need but the herd thinning is just about through. I figure as long as I don't need the $$$ I might as well keep gear I'm no longer using in case my needs should change again.

Zoom Bass FX pedal...bought it, used it for a while, then decided I really only used the distortion so I bought a Boss Bass Overdrive pedal (and later a Limiter/Enhancer pedal).

Also have a Korg A/B switch pedal I've yet to use once.

Oh, and a Nady wireless unit I've never cared for too much.

Strat. I love acoustic guitar, and always play, but I picked this up for a sideman gig. Put too much money in as fretwork, setups, etc. to get rid of it. I still bust it out every once in a while though.

Since the rock band broke up, I almost never use any of my effect pedals. Just once in a while when the wife is out to remind myself what they sound like

I also bought a DI for a gig. Hey, DIs are a useful thing to have! The only thing I have used it for since is to prop up a monitor

Digitech Bass Synth Wah-Every sound requires a MAJOR readjustment, and I don't like bending down to turn knobs on stage.

Bass Driver DI- Most of the places I play I'm running off of stage volume, and even when I am through the PA, I want my sound as close to what is coming out of my amp as possible.
