| Geddy Lee + Fender Fitted Case = No fit?

Does anyone have a Fender Geddy Lee Bass and a Fender Fitted Case (the plastic one, not the rectangle one)? I can't get my bass to fit in the case. The hang up appears to be in the heel, where the neck and body join.
I bought the case without the bass present and it doesn't fit. In all of the Fender literature it says the case will fit either Precision or the Jazz bass.....
I can always take the case back, but kinda wanted to keep this one.
