Get better at bass while working.

Ok... I'll try to put the question in context without spending too much of your time.
I decided to take a year off before college to improve my musical abilities (+ all that it implies) to get into a decent college. And work at the same time. I thought of working part-time but my pay would be s***.

Do you think I'll get enough time to improve at bass while working full time 8AM-5PM?

PS: College names from state colleges-level to BIT and Berkley are welcome! (USA, and I'm 18)

Thanks.
