Getting inspired in an odd way.

I was playing along to Yes' Fragile a little while ago, it made revisit the slap technique. Now I know what your thinking, how the hell could Yes inspire you to slap? Well to cut to the chase, I wanted a growly/clanky tone but don't have the cash for a Rick, so i started slapping the strings and got a decent Squire-esque sound. What's even weirder is Jethro Tull's Songs from the Wood made me want to get better at the "flamenco" technique. So, what are weird ways you've been inspired?
