Ive been told that I really need a new clarinet, the pads dont go down at the same time, the keys are wobbly and worst of all, some notes are horribly out of tune.
so im considering 4 clarinets in 2 catagories ABS resin/plastic and proper wood
for plastic ive found 2, the Buffet B12
buffet B12
the Yamaha YCL-250

and in Wood ive found 2 aswell
Buffet E11

and the yamaha YCL-450

basically the wood ones are the "step up" from the 2 plastic ones.
Ive read some review and I get the impression that the plastic yamaha is better than the plastic buffet, but im not sure about the wood ones.
I was talking to my new teacher about it, and he repairs and sells clarinets aswell, he said that it would be far better to buy second hand(from him or otherwise) because you save a lot of money.
Do you guys have any other reccomendations?
How big is the differance between wood and plastic? is it like the plywood vs alder/other hardwood sort of thing?
Ive done my grade 4 exam(there are 8 total in the exams I do. not sure about in the US) but I dont know much about clarinets, currently im using a cheap chinese one. My max budget is around £500.
I need to try out the clarinets, but Im not really confident that I will tell the differace in tone or build quality, but other people may notice, (like when im doing an exam or a performance)
Advice would be appreciated, thanks guys
