But I keep hearing how 60 is the new 40. That would be nice! |

Wife is my biggest fan; ecourages me. She sees old rockers on stage and doing commercials..SEEE? They;re still rockin and older than YOU.
My typical reply is that they have been doing nothing but music since the 1960's or so..and haven't lifted a cabinet, set-up PA or even tuned their own instruments in decades..sighs..Whereas I did decades at "hard labor" before becoming a desk jockey. Haven't had steady gigs since the '80's.
Still beats "the alternative"..and long-liveTROWER. |

With 2 young daughters, I now feel like Harry Chapin.

I do believe I feel or behave "younger" than my father, as by my age he had been through WWII, smoked 2 packs/ day, married, career and raised 2 sons..only to suffer last 10 years as a stroke victim died in his mid 60's, whereas I have achieved marriage and career; health wise pretty good..fingers crossed.
Ironically, NOW..I don't trust folks under 30..LOL.. Haven't paid their dues, yet they feel I am in the way of their careers. |

The guys in my band say no one wants to hear a bunch of 50 year olds playing metal (although the originals are in their 60s) so I am stuck with old guy music. Maybe I need a wig and some color to play what I enjoy. At least give me Bad Company (FFDP style).

I have a theory on how it "works"
Most of us have our earliest memories from around age 5.
Growing from 5 years to 10 years old felt like it took forever. Remember how long it took to go from December 1st to the 25th?
Then from 10 to 20 years "feels" about the same.
Then from 20 to 40 and you say - "wow, that was fast"
Then from 40 to 80. (which feels the same as the 5 to 10 year lifetime).
~
The silver lining to my theory is that: Even if you die at age 40 (and were expected to live until 80) - you had already lived 75% of your life.
Feel better? |

It's actually more fun now than it was in my 20s. I have better perspective on everything and figured out a long time ago that I'm not that important.

Load-in and out is much easier with my Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 combo...36 pounds. I ditched all the heavy gear two years ago - just no point to it when I can get equal or better performance out of the new micro gear with neo cabs.
I do more work helping others load in and out than doing my stuff. I have a bass, G-B combo and pedal board. Extra bass and additional cab usually stay in the car.
