Getting a punchy trebly tone with Flatwounds

Sign in to disble this ad
Well i just got some flatwounds on my aerodyne jazz and l love the feel of them. Problem is i play punk and they arent cutting it . I know i should of sticked with rounds but i wanted something different and they feel great with fingerstyle and i get less finger noise. So my question is how do i set up my amp with a 8 band equalizer to get a nice trebly punk tone.

I had a similar problem. My first solution was to run the bass through a distortion pedal, my second solution was to buy a second bass with rounds on it.

Try ground rounds. You get the feel of flats with a more punchy and trebly sound

I know you said fingerstyle, but flats sound great with a pick. You'll get some trebly edge without losing bottom.
