Getting Work On A Professional Level.

I was curious about this topic. I'm a bass player looking for work these days but I'm not looking to starting from scratch with an original band. I've done it too many times before. I'm too old for it and most of the time its not worth the headache. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as far as finding Professional and Touring jobs. That are going to beneficial. How do I put my self in the position to land an audition for some bigger name artist. I'm not trying to sound cocky or any thing but I know I can play on that level. I know its really tough to even land something like that but I was just wondering how do I put myself in the position to even have the chance. Do I scan all these forums? Do I join some sort of musicians union? Or is it pretty much about who you know? I'm just curious how this works. I am ready to pursue music on a more professional level and I'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks for your time.

No better place than "Ask a pro"! Janek Gwizdala, Adam Nitti, Todd Johnson, etc. They'll all surely gonna help you.

Ill venture a guess in that a move to a big city (if you arent in one already like NY, CA, or TN) would have to be one of the first things on the to do list.

Do you have any wealthy family members? Do you know someone in the "business"?
