Interesting article....

BBC News - Are Gibson guitars killing the rainforest?

I work in the conservation field so this is especially germane.

It's not really germane to anything, it's nothing but yellow journalism. If you have been following the Gibson stories, it's clearly about a violation of an import law, not an issue about deforestation.

There are numerous threads about this.

If you want to address deforestation, do something for the economy in the affected areas of India and South America ...because farmers are burning and clearing big swaths of land every day.

It's not really even about violation of import laws; it's about some government pencil-pusher's interpretation of a foreign law.

It's been discussed to death, but as far as I'm concerned, someone with some level of authority (that they probably don't deserve) has it out for Gibson. An armed raid over an incorrect tariff code that was off by one character, from an importer who supplies to ALL the guitar manufacturer's in the USA? Get real!

Politics? A fender-playing government goon's idea of "fun"? Who knows...

Fixed it.
The big question is why hasn't Martin been looked at?

Easy there, not judging, just posting out of interest. It's news to me....

To answer that question would be to infuse politics into the thread. Uh uh, nope, no way, negative, no sir, ix-nay. Ain't gonna happen.

Anything is better than the last go'round.
