I got to mess around on one of these the other day and i really loved it. I'm thinking about looking more into them.

Which model do you say is best bang for the buck? I never got to play them all sadly...

I love the sound Pete Towsend had with his P-90 one from the movie Isle Of Wight., Killer warm almost Strat tone from it

SG"s are like the Swiss Army Knife of guitars to me. I LOVE them! Stick to the newer ones though, the vintage ones tend to have spongy neck joints (prone to going out of tune).

You are not gonna go to the dark side are you? You know....grow an ego, get uppity, forget everything you have learned about gear, go on and on with 15 minute solos that can put 15,000 people to sleep in no time?

No .....I didn't think you were gonna do that.

I played on a Silverburst one at GC not too long ago, If I played guitar enough to justify paying for it, It would have came home with me. QC is hit or miss. Play on a few and find the one you like.

I also got a chance to BS with a Gibson Rep and he LOVES the Epiphone line. Its all in Perspective, if you can justify buying it then do so.

Guitar wise I'm happy with my Squier Telecaster I upgraded the Pups on.

All the skinny stringers I've liked from Gibson in the last couple of years have been 'faded' models. What's the deal with those? Is this Gibson's answer to Fender's relics?

And what's different that they cost less?

Faded models are basically w/ a finish that's easier to do, more lackluster pickups, and dot inlays instead of blocks.

I just notice that not only are the costs of faded series guitars a lot more reasonable than the regular series Gibsons, they've generally (And here's where I got connfused.) been better playing guitars than the full price versions I've seen for the last few years.

I traded my SG Standard towards my new 2008 Fender Pbass V. I definitely plan on getting another SG in the future. I woild love to get a 61 Reissue with 57 humbuckers. If I got another SG Standard, it would be the cherry finish rather than the Ebony that I had.

I also want another Gibson Les Paul to replace "Precious". Had to sell her when finances were difficult.

I played bass, and then guitar. For some reason, on bass, I favor the baseball bat type necks. On guitar, I love skinny necks.

EDIT: Thats a 64 SG with Gibson P90s yanked from a Gold Top of a similar vintage.

There is actually a small but thriving cottage industry of people copying THAT particular paintjob, basically making copies of the Fool guitar. A friend had an SG that got all scraped up a few years ago. It sounded great but just felt okay. He offered me a great price on it.

Now the part where it gets funny: I only considered it if my wife was willing to paint it like the Fool SG. I wanted my own Fool guitar, but didn't want to spen $2000 on the paintjob of a $700 SG, which was what the last one I'd seen at a guitar show really was.

She didn't feel like she could do a proper job of it, so I let the deal pass.
