LOL, it looks a larl bit camp!! I just use a RockBag Deluxe for my Bass and a couple of Hiking Rucksacks for carrying other equipment. Nothing overly expensive and they do the job!

I bought a Reunion Blues bag back in 1981 for my Alembic. Couldn't find a case wide/long enough or I would have never spent the $s. Turned out to be a great buy. I still use this bag 29 years later. I like it much better than the hardshell cases I have for my current basses.

I own a 25 year old Reunion Blues double bass guitar bag. Got it at cost and it still was obscene back in the day. That being said, the quality is outstanding. Beautiful overkill, like using a tactical nuke to kill an ant. Does kill the ant though....

I use a Fender Deluxe gig bag for my Peavey Millenium, Decent gig bags for $40.

You could also use one of these in a pinch

My RB leather double gig bag is getting close to 20 years old and still going strong. I can't say the same about any of the other numerous gig bags I own/have owned.

There are some Levy's that are up to $700..it isn't just a case it is protecting your bass..( says the guy who throwns his basses in $10 used gig bags from GC)...

That's damn expensive for a gig bag that doesn't even look that nice IMO

I'm a fan of roadrunner bags

I've heard tale that Ed Gein made a gig bag for the Red Ric and it sold on Ebay for $666.

Spencer, +1 on the Ritter bag. I actually like that- not bad. Right now I'm in the market for a new higher protection bag. The iGig 525 is out of stock and no one has them. Can't tell when they will be in either. The Mono M-80 looks good except my local shop, Bass Specialties, is out of them for a few weeks. I hate to tell the OP but I use Small Dog guitar case covers for my acoustics and mandos. Heck, the cover to protect the outside of the hard case are over $ 100. each. Guess he’s never seen Calton cases either…

That Ritter bag had better be made out of Kevlar and be able to block radiation.

If you're going to spend $3,000 or over on a high-end custom instrument, what's the problem with spending 10% of that on its protection when you have to take it someplace? It works out to be the same whether you're spending $25 of an iffy store-brand for a beginner bass, or $50 on a better gig bag when moving up to a $5-700 midrange.

I've heard many stories about Reunion Blues bags lasting 20-30 years at this point, plus any major damage being fixed for free... you certainly won't get that from "RoadRunner" or the "Guitar Center"/"Musician's Friend" name brands.

My Mike Lulls came with Pro-Tec "SoftShell" cases, and I think that's the future in protection for the 99.7% of players that aren't on a World Tour and have Custom ATA Flight Cases for their Instruments (I saw a Behind The Scenes with Dream Theater, and their guitarist John Petrucci tours with so many guitars - various tuning, plus some one-offs and a backup for *everyone* - that he actually has a Flight Case the size of a Touring Rack for his 12+ guitars!) "SoftCases" like Pro-Tec's, InCase & Mono's single & double bags give you 80-90% of the protection of a hardcase with only 20-30% of the weight, plus they're far more convenient to carry with backpack or over-the-shoulder harnesses, plus the conventional Shoulder Straps and "handle"-type loops. If I had the ca$h I'd ditch all my hardshell cases for InCase or Mono bags in an instant.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an RB gig bag for my trumpet($100) so that seems reasonable considering how much more material they use. Granted I have comparatively cheap bags for my basses/one HSC.
