Gig Tips Compilation

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey All

I've seen gig tips threads so, i thought i'd get a few from all of you all!

I'll start

(Include number eg the one i do last is 15, next person comments, number 16)

1) Always come fully prepared! Make a list of what you need, check it twice pack it up/ get it ready for packing the day before and double check an hour before leaving for the gig!

2) Before getting on stage, after every thing is set up, go for a walk clear your head

3) Get on stage Together as a band, every time my band does this people always comment on it in a positive manner

4) This doesn't apply to me, i don't drink but Stay sober, don't drink what so ever till afterwards and only have one pint, a clear head before and after

5) Linked with point 4 Stay hydrated, but don't go over the top, a pint a minute and slow the show don't by popping to the Loo every 10 minutes

6) If you use them, Keep Picks every where, mic stands, on the bass, amps, in packets on the floor, any where, you know they will be there and won't be moved, I keep 15 in a bag tied to my monitor, usually for the guitarist but i use one every now and then

7) If you've never been to the Venue, go a few times in advance, at least the night before, get to know the staff, the sound guy if there is one, that way you won't feel so nervous when you get there.

8) If its your own song and you make a mistake don't make it obvious by saying something or signalling or something

9) Grab the audience's attention - it's easier to hold it than to win it back once you've lost it. Some acts come across like they're just borrowing the stage until the real band arrives. Don't make that mistake - own the space.

10) It's true that some sound engineers are grumpy and smell bad, but they have the power to make your gig sound brilliant or terrible. Be nice to them and they'll be more likely to make you sound good.

Now, i'm not doing all the work!

AC
