Planning to go to New York in feb/march 2009. Will be there for a week.

What gigs/venues/bass players should an aspiring bass player check out in New York??

Any suggestions??

Depends. U like-a da jazz? O u like-a da rock and/or rolla?

Definitely go to the 55 Bar on a weeknight.
Be well worth it to make the pilgrimage to Iridium for one of Les Paul's Monday night sets.

good suggestion, many of New York City live music joints advertise here. One place you won't find advertising in the Village Voice is Saint Nicks Jazz Pub, a little hole in the wall joint with really great musicians on the weekends.
