My new project finally has it's first gig. This Friday, the 29th, at Mickey Finns in Toledo, Polka Floyd will make it's first appearance. The Dark Side Of The Moon, front to back, in order, polka style!

It's almost scary how easy it comes together. The guitar leads all stay the same. The vocals stay the same. I think it's because the songs are so slow originally, the drums and bass just play in cut time, and everything else just fits.

Hey, just stumbled across this. How did the gig go? I really enjoy dropping that cd in every now and then.

It went freaking awesome! I've never experienced anything like it. The buzz before the show. While we're playing, people standing in front with their mouths open. After we were done, I was standing by the door, and I heard people say to the people coming in, "you just missed the amazing thing". We're up in Detroit next Friday. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the place. I know it's above an old German restuarant. I think I was told it was the oldest restaurant in Detroit if that helps. Here's a link to some pics.... www.myspace.com/polkafloyd
I was going to hijack the Bowlus Borg thread briefly to let all the other Detroiters know.

Find out the name of the venue, I'll see what I can do to make it out.

Man, sorry I missed this, too! That concept sounds strangely compelling.

Hey Tom, We're back at Mickey Finns in Toledo on the 15th. It's a Thursday, but we're opening. The 8-string does make an appearance as well. We've turned Wish You Were Here into a lovely waltz. The bass is playing the 12-string riff, so naturally..... Sheesh, I'm going to hijack my own thread now.. Tom, Have you ever tried any Ashdown stuff? I just bought their bottom line 15 combo, and I'm really impressed with it. I was looking at their hi end head and thought that would match up well with my LDS cab. I'm getting to old to carry around my CA-6 powered rig!
Back to Floyd.....if you're into old Floyd, three words..... Interstellar Overdrive Polka!

I have a MK500 head, and an RPM-1 preamp, which are two very different beasts, but I like them both quite a lot. And my SuperFly should arrive today!

I'll do my best to make the gig, but that's the day after V-day, and my wife and I often go out the night after (to avoid the crowds).

Tom.
