Question this girl at my school asked me if i can teach her bass

Sign in to disble this ad
So basically, this girl asked me if i could teach her to play bass guitar, and i think she would probably want to learn real notes and stuff.

But all i can really show her would be like techniques and some easy songs, because i doubt she would be interested in learning metallica.

What i am really wondering is would it be worth learning to read music and like how to actually teach music, or should i just show her some simple stuff that i know?

I think she just wants to spend time with you. No one ever really wants to learn how to play bass.

Christ.

Maybe she wants you to teach her the 3 or 4 finger techniques?

*taxi*

Edit - When you say school, how old?

Show her the basic stuff you know, some scales and stuff and maybe get the tabs to a song she likes and help her learn to play it.

Also, Welcome to TB.

On an unrelated note I noticed you're from mackay, did you go to the Darcy Pullman gig?

This may be a case of attraction and an easy excuse to get to know you better, nothing wrong with that.

But, if you're asking if you're qualified enough to teach? If you have to ask, I'd say no, but I'm only referring to properly teaching bass

Tell her you can't teach her because you think that you aren't capable to teach her properly(honesty - she will go gaga over you) but tell her that you can always hang out frequently.

This is only the case if she is your type..

In Australia the age of consent differs among the states. In Queensland, where the OP lives:
"The age of consent for anal sex (referred to as sodomy in legislation) is 18 years, and for all other sexual acts (referred to as carnal knowledge in legislation) is 16 years."

If I were in your shoes (hopefully you wear 11 wides or larger, or my feet will hurt in your shoes.) I would tell her exactly what you CAN teach her, and see what she thinks. Generally, if someone is inspired to play an instrument from listening to a certain person play (i.e. You) then they would like to play somewhat like you. Thus, teach her how you play. If nothing else, by the time she can play at your current level, you will have advanced enough to teach her more.
More teaching = More "face-time" with this girl.
Go for it dude, an actual female wants to spend time with a bass player, MAKE HISTORY!
No Pics = No female that wants to play bass! (no offense to any TB gals that already play bass, you just happen to have a larger FIGURATIVE sack than Chuck Norris already! Bass chicks rock!)

"Now I don't want to freak you out a little bit, but could a get a picture with you? It's just, well, funny story really, when you first asked me, I went onto a forum of bassists to ask for advice on how to deal with the situation. And 'coz you're hot, I need a picture of you to prove your existence, so say 'cheese'!...

...

Careful, two lessons and she'll steal your gigs.
