This is a site for bassists, not a dating site. Look for girls to hit on elsewhere.

there are a few female bassists here...They probably just don't stay long because there always guys badgering them for pictures...

plus making a separate section will probably set the spotlight on them even more...probably not going to last...

The way some members here seem to fall all over themselves when they find out there is a young, moderately attractive female present, I would only imagine that a dedicated section would just be a breeding ground for awkwardness and desperate attempts at contacting the opposite sex.

First of all, I have a girlfriend. I was NOT thinking about getting a date. I just saw that this consept worked well on another forum, and was trying to contribute to the groth and diversity of talkbass.

I never said you were trying to get a date. I was just pointing out what I saw to be the inevitable result of your suggestion. I've never seen you attempt what I described, but I've seen it enough to feel pretty confident that it will happen.

So, what you are saying is:
More girls = More pestering = Less girls than we started off with?

Erm, this thread alone is proof.

Make something girls only, and the guys will be there soon enough...your idea is a failure!

When I say girls only, I mean off limits to guys, you have to be a girl to view the thing, like you have to be a suporting member to see whats going on in the lounge.

Umm, I'm just wondering what process would be undertaken to verify this? I mean, it's not a new thing to pretend you are someone that you aren't on the internet.

true...NBC nightline has done several stories on it...I think that eventually there will be a whole bunch of guys signing on as girls and pestering the girls, to the point that all the girls would just leave, which seems to be the same result as what happens in the OT forum...
