Giving Feedback to other Members

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been buying and selling things in the TB classifieds for a while now and have honestly had nothing but good experiences. However, I've begun to notice that quite a lot of members never give feedback anymore.

While this isn't a huge deal it me, I can't help but get a little frustrated that I should have about 18 or so positive transactions now, but only have 12 because some people never bothered to take minute to shoot me some feedback.

Anyways, I was wondering if not receiving feedback for a good (or even a bad) transaction bothers anyone else. And perhaps I should even ask if any of you knowingly decided to not give someone feedback and what your reasons were.

I agree that feedback, whether good or bad, is to the benefit of all. It makes sense to have an idea of the buying or selling history of the person you are doing business with.

Probably... okay, definitely

I usually ask the other person to leave feedback first and if they don't I'll often not bother leaving any for them either. I'd like to believe that's where most of those have come from lol.

If it bothers you, then make sure you leave honest feedback regardless of what the other person does. Unless I missed anyone, I've left feedback for all my transaction, but have not received it for all.

My policy is this: if I'm the seller, I leave feedback shortly after payment is made, or at least after the item is shipped out. This requires a little trust on my part that the buyer of my item is going to be cool with everything once they receive it. If I'm the buyer, I post feedback once the item is received and everything looks to be ok. MOST of the time, the favor is returned.

I've left feedback for everyone I've ever dealt with here but one. The only reason I couldn't leave him (negative) feedback was because he was banned based on his dealings with me and the person he dealt with right before me.

I've only had one person I dealt with not leave me feedback. Would have been nice to have it, but it's not the end of the world. I've got 15 transactions or so as it is.

I believe feedback is both helpful and considerate to fellow TBers. Of course, I can only hope that I've been so loyal to this belief.

Well, there you are. If I'm the seller, I leave feedback immediately after I receive payment. If I'm the buyer, I leave feedback after I receive the goods. I don't wait for the other party. I figure once they receive notification that they have received feedback, they will feel obligated to do the same. I don't remember ever asking for feedback, but I would if I hadn't received it within a week.

Same here. It's much easier for me to solicit feedback on a transaction if I've first taken the initiative to leave feedback of my own. It conveys trust and good will - which usually begets the same in return.

My buying/selling partners have taken note of how proactive I am; how I keep them in the loop at every turn of the transaction, until everything is complete. And they appreciate it.

Your credibility & good reputation is an asset that should be carefully managed - just like any other valuable asset.

I'm not active on the TB classifieds boards but this is exactly how I act on all others.

I mean to do it consistently, but I know I've absent-mindedly forgotten a few times. But that's "a few" out of the well over 100 transactions I've done here.

There have been three instances where I intentionally did not leave feedback. The first time it was because I was new here, and the seller was a TB "bigshot", so I was intimidated about leaving unfavorable feedback. The second time it was because I could tell the seller was a scatterbrain, and he hadn't done anything wrong "on purpose", so I didn't want to make a big deal of the things that weren't quite right. The third time it was because the other party was (is) INSANE and liable to leave "revenge feedback" and cause a lot of trouble.

Note: if I haven't left you feedback, please don't assume you are one of those three guys.

Like Munji, I usually do feedback as soon as my end of the deal is over, and I have yet to ask for feedback, but maybe I should - I still have two unfulfilled feedbacks (howz that for awkwardly worded) from deals...interesting (to me,at least) is that both of these folks have outstanding feedback ratings in general (which would suggest that they are in favor of feedback in general); AFAICT, there was no issue with either deal, so I'm guessing that it was forgotten/overlooked/something else.

Same here. I've had one transaction on here where I didn't receive feedback. I think, maybe two. But I always leave it as soon as my part of the transaction is complete. If we all decide to hold off until the other makes a move we'll all end up standing still.

Ive made 3 transactions via TB. Feedback was only given/received in two of those instances, but I chock the 3rd one up to the way the deal was handled. The guy didnt live far from me, so we met in person and handled it face to face.

I agree...and not to sound all self-improtant or anything, but I hope that the way I handle my end of transaction in general (keeping the other person informed, doing what I say I'll do, etc) would be an example of how I'd like to be treated.

I usually give feedback after the buyer has received the item, whether I'm the buyer or the seller. I always give feedback on every deal.
