Gnarls Barkley

Has anyone gotten a chance to listen to the new dangermouse project "Gnarls Barkley". If you haven't I think you should, it is suprisingly good. There are a few songs that i'm not to wild about like Go-go Gadget Gospel and Gone Daddy Gone, but the other songs makeup for their weakness. The music is very simple but Cee-lo's voice brings an amazing strength to it. Has anyone listened to these guys? What do you think?

The single has been at number one in the UK charts for the last 8-9 weeks solid - so I think quite a few people over here are getting very familiar ...maybe too familar with this!!

The single is very cool, its always rad when something new and different comes out and kills in the charts.

Hopefully it doesnt get thrashed too much.

LONDON (Reuters) - Demand for Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" shows no sign of fading as the single stayed at the top of the British charts for the ninth successive week, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.

Crazy annoys the hell out of me. I liked it maybe the first two times but then it just got annoying. I saw them on Jools Holland and actually found myself quite liking their other songs. It's just not really a very good song is Crazy and the chart stuff is just a joke but then I lost faith in the charts pretty much when I was born. Franz Ferdinand deserved to kick it off with "The Fallen" but wait, Franz Ferdinand aren't the new "it" band, Gnarls Barkley are. Give me a rest. The Fallen is actually a song that you can listen to a reasonable number of times without it annoying the hell out of you and as a cover song it also rather rocks a party. Crazy does neither.

And these are to be the only two criteria to judge 'goodness' of music by?

Give me Gnarls Barkley over FF any day of the week. Franz Ferdinand have had their time as the it-band, their musical weakness is now exposed - their hook is well and truly blunted.

I saw them on Jools Holland and I thought the singer was pretty good - but it's not really my cup of tea....although more interesting than most chart music.

Although what surprised me most on that show was how poor Franz Ferdinand were - out of tune guitars, hoarse, flat singing and pretty dull tunes....

I only caught the end of the programme, but I quite liked both acts. It's cool to see G. Barkley doing well, since they're at least trying something a bit different.

I, too, was thoroughly sick of "Crazy" (even the best things can drive you nuts when they're being played at you for the zillionth time).

However.... Gnarls Barclay's performance on TOTP this week was a revelation. A completely different arrangement: slower tempo, added string section...kinda operatic. Breathed a whole new life into it. Well done, chaps!

I enjoyed the stuff I heard on Jools Holland more than the single, though that may just be because I'm a bit sick of it by now.

Dangermouse is the other guy's name. Not heard the album, but its not a bad tune. It is getting a bit overplayed though. Will be interesting too see what the bring out next, and whether it sinks without trace

dangermouse and cee lo as said before are the two artists who put this album together and I reccomend getting the whole album there are some pretty killer tracks that don't get old like crazy does. However there are some that either will grow on you or you'll hit next every time, but give them a try.

I'm digging Gnarls Barkley, especially after seeing them perform live on Conan O'Brien. Have you all seen the he video for Crazy? It's like a morphing Rorschach test. Very cool.
