Going Funky

Sometimes that's all you can do, man.

This isn't literally funk; it's considered soul, but whatever.

I feel pretty funky when I groove to it.

We will be doing the more well-known faster version, but I do enjoy this:

Play that funky music white boy
Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die"

Amazing track, actually this came up the other night when discussing covers for us.... but we play prog rock so it's not really going to fit.

If your going to cover it, you'll greatly benefit from a keys player, and the drummer needs to know that beat. I once saw a cover band, sans keys, cover this, the drummer did a generic beat and it just ruined it.

On drums, we will be covered. We will not be doing keys. Arthur has a way of playing two parts at once, and it was what he was playing on the Les Paul that made us want to cover it. I am doing the bass, but I'm doing just a bit of popping, and slightly less sparse than the original.

My wife will be strumming my twelve string, and I've already showed her how to get the exact groove Withers got, and she digs it.

This is definitely one we're making our own.
