Going to New Orleans and looking to rent an electric bass somewhere!

Any folks from New Orleans...I am going there for a few days and can not carry my instrument on the plane, unless I can pay for another seat,,,can't afford it. Just looking to rent something with a small combo amp. I am in the midst of a tough semester at City College and Manhattan and have to learn Charlie Parker's Shaw' Nuff solo during break and need each day to work on it. I appreciate any ideas or input.

The rental, may cost you more than you make on the gig.
Great town, but gigs pay low money.

You likely can buy a cheap bass for same money and less hassle than renting one - I bought a Peavey Fury a couple weeks back at Pawn shop for $100. Also, I must say that I travel with a bass in a gig bag all the time - just walk on the plane like you know what you're doing and don't be too obvious and stick it in the overhead like it's the most natural thing in the world.

Good Luck...
