Great little list. Opeth is one of my top 4 favorites. Cynic is wicked (textures anyone?) and I'm trying to get into The Ocean.

Lucky.

Saw Opeth on their last recent US date in Baltimore. Fantastic show. Cynic are legends and I hear great things about the new album.

This is The Ocean (the germans) not the american doom one? That band is ****ing great I love their use of classical instrumentation. Although I don't understand why they have so many vocalists when all they do is yell.

And I saw Opeth with High on Fire earlier this year Opeth rules live. They played a great mix of material from their entire catalog.

Yeah, the German Ocean. Not my hometown boys.

And I saw Opeth with High On Fire on that same tour, and I thought Opeth were terrible live... That's just an illustration of my tastes, I suppose.

I keep having that problem, whenever I see "The Ocean" I think "Ocean" and wonder how they got on that bill. That would be an odd show.

seeing them in stuttgart tuesday, cycnic are indeed legendary. Ive been listening to Opeth's live roundhouse tapes, great stuff, the bassist uses a Fender M. Miller 4 for most of the set,ill be right in front of him the whole gig!

Eh I thought they were great I WAS pissed off about High on Fire's mix though it was pretty terrible. There is such a thing as too much bass

imho ocean > the ocean by a factor of about 1,000,000 AND i don't get the isis/the ocean comparisons. i mean, they put on a great show, seemed like a good band, but isis are in a totally different league, even if aaron turner did spit on me. git. plus the ocean charge way too much for their merch, £15 for a cd at a show is just dumb.

Considering that Precambrain covers 2 CDs and more than 80 minutes of playing time, that up to 84 tracks are used within just one song, and that the European packaging is one of the most elaborate i've ever seen, that's still a fair price.

I've already seen them twice during the last 14 months and am looking forward to see them again in march together with Burst (Lazarus Bird is a killer album!). Missed the tour with Opeth and Cynic, though.
