If you can spend a few bucks more and go to $100, I'd highly reccomend the Alessandro Music Series One. They won't fart out when you practice on bsss like most closed headphones will. They have a vented diaphram which gives awesome bass response - the perfect headphone for a bass player (well, unless of course you can step it up to the MS2 or MSpro) Personally I have the MS2's and love them.

The alessandros are fantastic for recreational listening too....awesome headphones designed in conjunction with john grado.
For a slightly cheaper option, I'd go with the sony MDR-7506. They are more or less the industry standard for studio headphones. They sound pretty good, are durable, and easy to use. I have a pair which I use regularly. You can find these at guitar center and most music stores.
Either one of these will destroy all bose offerings IMHO. Cords should be adequately long on either. The sony comes with a screw-off type 1/4" and 1/8" combo jack and you can order the Alessandro in either 1/4" or 1/8", whichever you prefer. Cords are adequately long on both.
